Many of our patients have inquired about the most recent advances in Cardiac CT imaging.

Cardiac CT imaging, also known as CT angiography or Cardiac CTA, represents an important breakthrough in diagnostic cardiology.

Pacific Cardiology has been performing Cardiac CT imaging for our patients since 2006.  This technology has allowed us to reduce the number of invasive catheterizations (angiograms) that we perform at Queens Medical Center by over 50%.

Cardiac CT imaging is the most accurate, non-invasive method of detecting coronary artery disease.  A cardiac CT scan is 90-95% accurate at detecting any blockage within your heart blood vessels.

Pacific Cardiology utilizes the most the most advanced technology known as low radiation CT imaging, reducing a patient’s exposure by 70-80% over conventional CT scanners.  When considering a CT scan, be sure to inquire if the facility has acquired low radiation technology.

Cardiac CTA may be performed in place of stress testing, in patients who experience angina (chest pain or shortness of breath) or who have multiple risk factors for heart disease (age over 45 for men and 50 for women, family history of early blood vessel disease, diabetes, smoking, obesity, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia).  Your insurance carrier will not reimburse for screening tests in patients who have no symptoms of chest pain.
